Irises are one of my favorite flowers. They are well suited to the climate where I live and there are so many varieties to choose from. Each flower has it’s own scent and color. Each one is unique and beautiful. I often stop and enjoy them as they bloom and it always brings a smile to my face. My only regret is that they bloom once a season and are done.
I have taken many photographs of my iris collection over the course of many years. Each photograph is unique and special to me. The light and the overall weather are determining factors when I consider the results. Different times of day will bring varied colors to the same plant. If you shoot in the morning your photograph will come out differently than if you capture it in the afternoon. Experimenting with light and color is how I come to discover what works for me and what I should pass on in the future. Over time I have come to see just when the light is right and when I should try again tomorrow.
