Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you. ~Walt Whitman

Golden Beauties One of my favorite flowers is the lily. There are many varieties of this flower and many colors to choose from. This particular floral creation was inspired by a trip to a friend’s garden. She grows these gorgeous lilies and I wanted to bring them home with me. So I did. Not with a shovel (she might have gotten upset with me) but with first with my camera and then my imagination. I enjoy taking pictures and capturing […]

Beavers in Love. Painted into an amorous world and bonded into eternity along a riverbank.

July 30, 2013 by owfotografik

Will You Be My Beaver These two fantasy creatures ooze affection for one another. They are gazing lovingly and touching softly. Over time the bright color of their bodies fades but the affection remains. Painted clay and hardened cement provide a solid background for them to live happily together as long as the elements support them. Over time as these images fade from view along the trail, they will live forever in the painted reality I created for them. Visit […]

Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life. ~Buddha

Flaming Waters If I could set fire to a water fountain I imagine it would look like this….Flaming waters and a wild imagination brought this abstract painting to life. All of the heat and the curling flames are captured and absorbed into the digital realm that they are born into. A golden tapestry of heat and beauty. Life is contained here and destruction is also present. One brings about the other in a frenzied fight for existence. Food is cooked […]

Come visit me in solitude and stay to enjoy the sound of the river flowing gently by as you absorb the stillness and peace.

A Quiet Place I really enjoy parks and recreation and everywhere I go I look for the quiet place to enjoy the peace that nature offers up daily. This spot is a really cool example of a quiet place to sit for a minute and contemplate life. It is also an attractive lunch option if you bring a picnic. Many moments have been spent by the banks of the Methow River and summer days are enjoyed as the shade of […]

Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure. ~Confucius

Climbing a Tree I found this tree as I was walking in the park. The bark caught my attention and I stopped to look at it more closely. Then I looked up and realized that it would be really fun to climb. Not that I actually would climb it now, when I was a kid, but not now. There is something about climbing that I have always been attracted to. You get such a better view of everything when you […]

Bees on the prowl and flowers wanting more attention. A delightful combination indeed

July 26, 2013 by owfotografik

Flowering Bee Bees are wonderful creatures that I love to capture with my flowers. This bee is so cute as he perches on the blooms and makes a meal of their sweet nectar. Small in size and so very important to nature and humans. Some bees are very dangerous and some are sweet and slow. Their role in our lives is dynamic and not entirely certain. I enjoy seeing them in my garden and out in the woods. I take […]

Falls Creek Footbridge, not for the faint of heart or the stumbling of spirits

July 25, 2013 by owfotografik

Falls Creek Footbridge In the Methow Valley there are many trails to explore and many adventures await. This trail involves a walk across a footbridge made from a fallen tree. This bridge is solid and stout but not for the faint of heart. My son ran across it with glee not noticing the rushing water beneath his feet. He was focused on the next great photograph around the bend from here. As you venture further along this winding pathway you […]

Feel the fingertips of these fantastic budding beauties. Can you sense the curling creations.

Blue Bounty A blue vase of flowers becomes a swirling fantasy of colors and unusual flora. I love the color blue especially in abstract paintings. The various shades of this color are unique and inspire creative painting. I love to swirl the brush and watch the colors merge and move. What a joy to get lost in the center of all of this beauty and let your mind wander to the outer realms of it and back to the middle. […]

No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit. ~Helen Keller

Star Light Star Bright I wish upon this abstract star tonight Look to the stars and find inspiration. What is is in these celestial bodies that brings us such joy. Have you ever laid on the earth and looked at the stars on a warm summer night. They are all laid out in varying degrees of twinkling brightness. Magic and mystery are all around as we float by in our earthbound existence. When I look up at night my soul […]

Stand on a riverbank and drink in the sensation of clean water and clear blue skies.

Methow River Log Jam A river is a fascinating and water filled pathway that winds down from the mountains and brings life giving nourishment to all along the way. The Methow River originates in the North Cascade Mountain range and is clear clean and beautiful. This particular stretch runs through Mazama Wa, and along the Methow Valley community trail. A high bluff allows a great view of this sparkling waterway. The trees along the riverbank stretch out their roots and […]
