Light my Fire is the name of my latest vertical tri-panel artwork. This artwork started it’s career as a campfire. I wanted to capture the spirit in the flames as they licked quietly at the wood they were fed. Small tongues of liquid flame. Maybe not liquid but that is what it looked like to me. Flowing and sweeping the logs with their passionate caress.
I am fairly fascinated with fire. The way that it consumes anything in its path with complete abandon. The way that it brings life and destruction at the same time. We would not survive without fire and yet it brings death in the wrong circumstances. I can only imagine the first human that encountered fire and what that person must have thought when they saw it. How long did it take them to discover that this new phenomenon would change their lives forever?
I am drawn to the earth and it’s elements for my artwork. Fire is my latest fascination to explore. I am intrigued by the life contained within fire. I can take so many photographs of the same fire and each one is different. It moves and shapes itself faster than my camera can record. I shot frame after frame and they were all so very different. I also enjoy water for this reason. It is always moving and changing and reflecting light. Does flame reflect light or is it light by itself?
This tri-panel is also available in 3 separate sections.
