The title of this work is Broken Heart.
I painted a broken heart and all the emotions that accompany a broken heart. Love, loss, betrayal, guilt, fantasy, magic, skepticism, frustration, yearning, acceptance, wistfulness and on and on. Colors represent emotions and shapes express yearning and acceptance.
We all hope for the best when we embark on the wild ride of intense emotion and absolute abandon that accompanies all lovers. At times we bask in the devotion of our partner and other times we collapse in misery as our feelings are dashed into the pits of despair. Love and loss and experience teach us that all of these combined contribute to the intensity of our emotional journey. Love is not without pain and never will be. Nothing is perfect in this life and as we travel we learn. Safe and careful will not protect you from pain. Indeed you will need to partake of the delicious sensations in order to fully live and love.
My painting is born from my own experiences with this powerful emotion. I have experienced all of this in my time here. I have loved and I have lost. Raw emotion and absolute joy are companions of mine and I have learned that it is best for me to express and not hold inside this maelstrom of thoughts and feelings. I have been scarred and I have been blessed. Opposites shaping me as intricately as a marble statue sculpted carefully by a loving master.
