A picture must possess a real power to generate light and for a long time now I’ve been conscious of expressing myself through light or rather in light. ~Henri Matisse

August 31, 2013 by owfotografik

Tulips are another favorite flower of mine and these three are no exception. I enjoy the spring blooms as these friends awaken with the sun in the early morning. They open their essence to the light as they seek to envelope the very energy of the new day. Can you see their song as they sing to the earth and all of its inhabitants? I love the way that flowers follow the sunlight. They stretch and seem to just drink […]

An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind. ~Mahatma Gandhi

August 30, 2013 by owfotografik

I see World Peace and the idea that we can all get along and love each other even though we are different. I see all colors being equal , and all shapes and sizes as beautiful. There are large areas of common ground and plenty of places where conflict is alive and struggling. Red is anger and love and blue is peace and calm. Yellow is life and the idea that it will all continue throughout until it is no […]

The more sand has escaped from the hourglass of our life, the clearer we should see through it. ~Niccolo Machiavelli

August 29, 2013 by owfotografik

I am fascinated by this quote and this photograph. I love the soft orange and brown in contrast with the dark bue and green. I think of sand and the night sky. Do you see an hourglass filled with sand or does another vision come to mind when you look at this Macro photograph of a glass ornament? I am fascinated with colored glass and handblown glass artwork. See more of my Macro Glass Photographs

Purple lupine standing tall and proud in the afternoon sun.

August 26, 2013 by owfotografik

Come visit my abstract garden yet again for another visual treat. Lupine are abundant in this space and each one blooms for a a week or so as it slowly opens its blooms to the spring sunshine. Each small part of the flower is on a quest to find light and nourishment as it grows and enjoys the space that it flourishes in. I love to capture this energy and beauty as the garden wakes. No two flowers are ever […]

I had to create an equivalent for what I felt about what I was looking at – not copy it. ~Georgia O’Keeffe

Pretty Peachy Rose Abstract Flower Roses are such incredible beauties. There are so many colors and varieties of this mysterious flower. They are all so different and yet the same. When I was in college at Western Washington University I would walk by a rose garden on my way to class. Every day I would remind myself to stop and smell the roses 🙂 I thought that if I was fortunate enough to walk by this fragrant spot every day […]

Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun. ~Pablo Picasso

August 24, 2013 by owfotografik

It is interesting to me that when I look at this painting I feel like I am looking into the heart of the sun itself. All of the fiery energy and molten colors pulsating out into the universe with a fierce and explosive presence. Deep orange bursts into life as it stretches towards us and melts into a soft yellow pulse as it fades to black. I was attempting to replicate the bloom of a Marigold. A beautiful flower that […]

No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. ~Buddha

Abstract Self Portrait This photograph is really fascinating to me because I look at it and I see a self-portrait waiting. I see an empty space that I can imagine any version of myself I want to see. It is such a perfect frame for a face and an idea. The edges are beautiful and remind me of a specialty picture frame. Crystal or diamond or some other exquisite stone are a reminder that life is sacred and that we […]

You don’t drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there. ~Edwin Louis Cole

August 22, 2013 by owfotografik

Aquatic Wonder. A deep pool of clean clear water beckons. Will you heed its call and come running or will you sit by quietly and ponder the vast empty blue pool. Shades of blue are soothing and yet when you fall in you may be swept away. Water is very relaxing to me and yet in the wrong moment it can be overwhelming in its intensity. I see a vast body of water sitting and waiting to be discovered. waves […]
