Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power. ~Abraham Lincoln

Edge of the Universe Omaste Witkowski

During my months of glass studies this is one of my favorite images that I produced. I feel really interesting emotions when I look at this photograph. I see a godlike creature standing at the edge of the universe and looking into infinity. I really enjoy the many fine details that are in all of the areas on this photo and yet I am confused by the depth of emotion that I feel when I look at it. I see such a small form and yet infinite power and trepidation. This being knows what they created and yet they are fearful for all of the many events that take place within the boundaries of their creation. Will it work out or will the fiery flame envelop it all in order to start over again. I think that the answer is known and yet the saga will play out anyway. I see all of this and I feel so much more. I am deeply connected to this piece and could really study it for a very long time.

This photograph was one of a series I took from a large glass globe. It was about the size of a cantaloupe melon and the colors were dark upon first glance. Deep blues and reds that almost looked black. When I put it up to the light however I saw this amazing range of shapes and shades of color. I was fascinated by the change from dark to light. I attempted to bring some of these discoveries into my portfolio. I watched in wonder as these images revealed themselves to me. A truly enchanting experience during the long winter months. See more of this series in my Crystal Ball Gallery.
