I love gardening and I really love flowers. Growing a garden full of vegetables to feed your family is a wonderful activity. Then when you add flowers it becomes truly magical. Marigolds have many properties that make them an ideal flower to grow. They are rumored to keep pests out of a garden and some varieties are actually edible. I have seen beautiful salads with fresh flowers mixed into the greens for a stunning visual treat. I have to confess that I grow them with my vegetables for the color more than anything else. Each year I plant hundreds of seeds of many varieties so that I can look at them all through the season.
