Will is to grace as the horse is to the rider. ~Saint Augustine

Horses On A Hillside During the month of May in the Methow Valley the Arrowleaf Balsamroot flower grows wild on the hillsides and is fragrant and beautiful. I love to ride my mountain bike along the trails and breathe deeply of the soft scents blowing in the wind. On this particular day I looked up and saw these pretty horses getting lunch up off the trail. I always carry my camera with me and so I pulled it out and […]

Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake. ~Wallace Stevens

Patterson Lake Fall Morning Landscape Painting There is a beautiful trail that winds its way around this particular lake. It’s name is Patterson Lake and it is such a joy to be near. Located high in the North Cascade Mountain Range and loved by many. It is a reservoir that contains melted snow and ice that runs down from the mountains. We love to swim in it and hike and bike around it all summer long. In the fall we […]

Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley. ~Theodore Roethke

Pondering a Mountain Buy a high quality print of this picture here I have not climbed very many mountains but I can tell you that if you keep going, eventually you reach your goals. You must be prepared AND determined. Not taking enough supplies or not having the willpower will defeat any goal you will set. I try to set reasonable goals for myself in life which is why I have not set out to conquer heights very often. My […]

Kayaking at Howard Prairie Lake in Oregon, an adventurous treat for the whole family.

August 1, 2013 by owfotografik

My family and I had the pleasure of camping at the Howard Prairie Lake Resort, “The Best Southern Oregon RV Camping, Fishing, Sailing and Outdoor Living Since 1960″ with our extended families. This is an annual retreat for the Witkowski and Lambert clans and it is an event that we look forward to all year long. Kayaks and mountain bikes are standard fare and a certain sailboat is sure to make an appearance. Dogs and kids run and play as […]

Falls Creek Footbridge, not for the faint of heart or the stumbling of spirits

July 25, 2013 by owfotografik

Falls Creek Footbridge In the Methow Valley there are many trails to explore and many adventures await. This trail involves a walk across a footbridge made from a fallen tree. This bridge is solid and stout but not for the faint of heart. My son ran across it with glee not noticing the rushing water beneath his feet. He was focused on the next great photograph around the bend from here. As you venture further along this winding pathway you […]

Stand on a riverbank and drink in the sensation of clean water and clear blue skies.

July 22, 2013 by owfotografik

Methow River Log Jam A river is a fascinating and water filled pathway that winds down from the mountains and brings life giving nourishment to all along the way. The Methow River originates in the North Cascade Mountain range and is clear clean and beautiful. This particular stretch runs through Mazama Wa, and along the Methow Valley community trail. A high bluff allows a great view of this sparkling waterway. The trees along the riverbank stretch out their roots and […]

Put on the hat and remember what you have given up in order to get to the next stop along your pathway.

July 21, 2013 by owfotografik

Remembering Better Days A lost hat on the trail becomes a monument to all those who have passed by and remembered. I have lost countless items on the trails and I have found countless more. I imagine that some little girl became tired and lost track of her sunhat. Not sure whether it was worth going back for it was abandoned and most likely forgotten by its owner. Each time I see this hat I remember the journey and all […]

I took my son to work with me today… Learned a few new tricks and found some treats :-)

July 14, 2013 by owfotografik

Taking your child to work with you is not the easiest activity imaginable for most people, myself included, but there are many lessons to be learned when you take a minute and look at the world through the eyes of a child. I am fortunate that my son shares my interest in photography, enjoys going for walks on trails with me, and is an easygoing companion (most of the time 🙂 ). I also enjoy the opportunity to see the […]
