Luminous Starburst, White Flower from Above

Botanical & Flowers · horizontal

A single white flower with long pointed petals is seen from above, its center filled with pink and magenta threadlike stamens. A very small dark insect sits among the stamens near the upper left. The bloom glows against a dark green and brown background that has a swirling, brushed texture and darkened edges. The flower is centered and radiates outward like a starburst.

A collector wants this piece for the way one pale flower glows out of near-darkness. The white petals fan into a precise starburst around a hot pink and magenta center, set against deep forest green and olive-brown. The painterly, brushed background and soft vignette keep it quiet and dramatic at once. A tiny dark insect on the stamens rewards a second look. Most flower pictures are bright and airy, and this one is dark, centered and intimate. Pure visual attraction is reason enough to choose it.
