Luminous Curl, Cream Swirls on Blue and Red

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · horizontal

A close, abstract view of glossy shapes in periwinkle blue, deep red and dark plum, crossed by bright cream-white highlights. Fine feathery streaks run through the pale shapes, and a curled swirl sits at the lower right. Small bubble-like dots dot the red area, and thin curved lines divide the image into cell-like sections. The overall effect is luminous and flowing, with strong color contrast.

A collector wants this piece for its light. Cream-white highlights blow out to near white and glow yellow at the edges, as if light were catching something wet or glassy. They sit against saturated periwinkle blue, deep brick red and dark plum. Most abstracts in this broad category are either soft and pastel or flat and graphic. This one is glossy, dense and high-contrast, with fine feathery streaks inside the pale shapes and a curling spiral at lower right that pulls the eye in. Pure visual attraction is reason enough to want it.
