Held by a Blue Line, Gold and Violet Abstract

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · square

A square abstract image of glossy, flowing color divided by a thin dark vertical line. On the left and center, rippled bands of blue, green, yellow and orange hold small round bubbles and bright highlights. On the right, swirling purple, magenta and pink shapes meet a glowing orange form in the lower corner. The surface looks like translucent glass or liquid lit from within.

A stranger stops on the glow. Gold, saturated blue and violet look lit from behind, and a single thin dark line splits the picture. On one side the surface is rippled and bubbled like clear glass or liquid. On the other it swirls smooth and silky into magenta, with an orange ember in the lower corner. It is the unusual combination that sets it apart: a calm warm centre, a cool rippled side, and a hard line before the violet panel. Most colorful abstracts are one mood across the whole surface, and this one has three. Its appeal is plainly visual, which is reason enough to want it.
