Iris Whirl, Gold and Burgundy Irises

Botanical & Flowers · vertical

Two large irises with golden-orange upper petals and deep burgundy lower petals fill the center of a tall frame. White daisies with yellow centers and green leaves surround them. A swirling, marbled texture runs across the petals and the green background, so the flowers look as if they were painted in flowing oils. The irises stand out in warm, saturated color against the softer green behind.

Someone wants this piece for its heat: two ruffled irises in glowing gold-orange and wine-burgundy, stacked on a tall frame and set in a swirl of marbled, oil-paint-like texture. Many iris pictures are crisp, still flower portraits. Here the whole garden seems to flow. The warm saturated blooms against soft green, framed by white daisies, make a vertical piece that is lively and richly colored for its own sake.
