Oil-Slick Orb, Iridescent Glass Sphere

A large glass sphere fills the frame, its surface shimmering in blue, purple, gold and copper. Inside, a dark circular opening sits among clear and blue glass forms and tiny bubbles, with blurred glass shapes around it. A dark band at the bottom carries the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote 'Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art.'

A stranger is stopped by the shimmer: a big glass sphere glowing in blue, purple, gold and copper against near-black, with a dark lens-like circle at its centre that pulls the eye in. Other glass or orb prints rarely combine this much oil-slick colour with that much dark space. The Emerson line on the band underneath gives it a second reason to hang in a study, studio or reading corner. Seeing it is reason enough to want it.
