Where the Water Slows, Spring Meadow and Snowy Peak

A narrow stream flows through a bright green meadow, with small white ripples spilling over a low ledge in the foreground. Beyond the meadow, a dark band of evergreen trees stands below a mountain ridge streaked with snow. The sky is a deep, cloudless blue. Shrubs and grasses line both banks, and a pine branch enters the frame at the upper left.

A collector wants this for its clear, uncomplicated invitation into a spring landscape. A white-rippled ledge in the foreground opens onto a calm blue pool that mirrors the sky. The stream then curves through a bright green meadow and a dark band of evergreens to a snow-streaked peak. Blue, fresh green and deep conifer green are saturated but natural, and the layered bands of the composition make the view easy to read. Many mountain photographs rely on drama or haze. This one is crisp, open and calm, so the appeal is purely visual: a clean, fresh view that leads the eye upward.
