Spiral Lupine, Blue and Violet Flower Spike

A tall spike of blue and purple lupine flowers stands upright in the center of a vertical frame. The blossoms are rounded and curled, with petals that swirl into little spirals, and the tip of the spike tapers into smaller yellow-green and violet buds. Behind it, soft bands of green and sky blue are scattered with circular swirl patterns. A dark indigo-purple border surrounds the picture, and its inner edge melts into curling green and yellow shapes at the bottom.

Lupines are usually shown as realistic garden photos. This one is built entirely from small curling spirals, so the tall blue-violet spike looks like swirling ribbons of color set against a field of soft circles. A collector who wants a flower that is instantly recognizable but clearly not a photograph, with saturated cobalt and violet that glow as if lit from within, would choose it over a conventional floral. The color and the playful rhythm are reason enough to want it.
