Crimson Curls, Red Sunflower

Botanical & Flowers · horizontal

A large deep-red sunflower fills the frame, its pointed petals fanning out around a dark brown and purple seed center. Every surface is covered in small swirling curls, so the flower and the soft cream, green and lavender background look like thick painted texture. The picture is framed by a border of dark red swirls with a thin gold line inside it. The overall effect is rich and glowing, with the bold red flower standing out against the pale background.

A collector wants this piece for the way a single sunflower is turned into a ripple of crimson curls. The saturated red flower glows against a pale cream, green and lavender background, and the flower is still clearly a flower. It is a bold, warm floral with the texture of thick paint, not a quiet botanical study. The dark red swirled border and thin gold line also make it look finished and framed.
