Cobalt Ring Lantern, Yellow Teardrop Abstract

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · horizontal

A glowing yellow teardrop shape sits inside a thick, curling ring of cobalt blue and violet at the center of the image. The ring rests on a pale yellow, rounded square, surrounded by swirling bands of olive green, orange and rust brown. Fine feathery tendrils, glossy white highlights and small star and crescent shapes are scattered around the ring. At the right, the brown areas show a cracked, lace-like pattern, giving the piece a rich, tactile feel.

A collector wants this piece for its glowing yellow teardrop held inside a thick, feathered cobalt ring. It reads at once as a lit-from-within focal point. Other blue-and-yellow abstracts spread color across the canvas. This one has a clear centered target, a vortex of tendrils pulling toward it, and a rust-brown border with a cracked, lace-like texture. It is a vivid, dreamlike, tactile image that works on pure visual attraction.
