Look at the center first. A dark ring sits just below the middle of a glass orb that fills almost the whole frame. It could be a pupil, a camera lens or a small planet. Most people look at it for a moment before they notice anything else.

Then your eye starts to travel. Around the rim, indigo and cobalt glass shifts into copper, amber, violet and gold. Tiny bubbles speckle the surface. This is Indigo Eye, and I made it for the wall of someone who likes to look into things.

What the eye finds, in the order it finds it

First comes the dark ring. It is the quietest part of the picture and also the strongest. The center is deep and nearly black, and everything bright in the frame is arranged around it.

Then the rim takes over. Bright highlights run along the edge and the upper right, and an oil-slick sheen moves from blue to purple to gold. A patch of teal-green sits at the upper right. Touches of magenta appear where you don't expect them.

Last, the surface rewards a closer look. Small bubble-like circles and glowing highlights are scattered across the glass in dense, crisp detail. Soft, blurred curved glass sweeps up from the lower corners and keeps the orb floating against a muted taupe-grey glow.

Depending on your mood, the orb can read as a watching eye, a camera lens or a distant world. I haven't fixed it to one meaning. The image holds all three.

What you'll see in the print

Where it belongs

Indigo Eye is horizontal, centered and high in contrast. It works as a single statement piece on a wall that needs a focal point, such as above a sofa, in a study or in an entry. The dark center and detailed surface hold attention from across the room and reward a closer look.

The deep blues sit well against warm neutrals and grey walls. The orb is glossy and reflective, so it suits a smooth, luminous print surface. The mood is mysterious and contemplative, with a cosmic feel that comes from the image alone.
