Eyes in the Current, Black and White Pattern Drawing
A square black-and-white drawing made of bulbous, flowing shapes that interlock across the whole page. Some are filled with fanned stripes, some with concentric rings, and one with a band of small eye-like ovals and dots. Solid black areas edged with white triangles weigh down the bottom, and the work is signed 'Omaste '16' at lower right.
Someone wants this piece for how it looks: bold black against clean white, packed with pattern, with a wavy band of small eye-like ovals running through the middle. Most black-and-white abstracts are either sparse and minimal or generic geometry. This one is dense and hand-drawn in feel, with swelling forms that push against each other. It rewards a long look, and it holds a wall without bringing any colour into a room.
