Face to Face, Rust Swirl Forms on Turquoise

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · horizontal

Two large, rust-brown shapes face each other across a field of bright turquoise blue. Each is covered in tightly wound spirals and carries a small cream spot and a pale cream wedge, which can read as an eye and a beak. The blue background is made of loose, swirling rings, and a band of cream, tan and orange runs along the bottom. The whole surface looks like swirled, glossy paint, in a warm-against-cool palette.

A collector wants this piece for its bold warm-against-cool color and the quiet drama of two rust-brown forms leaning toward each other across a turquoise field. Almost every surface is wound into tight spirals, so it reads as glossy, swirled paint. The facing shapes, each with a cream wedge and a small cream spot, can be seen as two creatures meeting, or simply as abstract forms. That gives the viewer something to puzzle over and enjoy, and the piece works purely as a vivid, playful color statement.
