Cobalt Dome and Ember Seam, Glossy Abstract

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · horizontal

A large, rich blue rounded shape fills the top of the picture, edged by a thin dark line. Below and beside it, smooth glossy areas of orange, amber, magenta, pale yellow-green and bright green meet along thin glowing borders. Tiny bubbles and specks dot the warm and magenta areas. The whole image reads as a close, abstract study of color and curved shape.

A collector wants this piece for its color collision: a huge, deep cobalt dome pressed against glowing pools of burnt orange, amber, magenta and pale green. Thin luminous lines separate the shapes, and the surfaces look glossy and see-through. Tiny bubbles in the warm areas give it a close-up intimacy that flat color-field abstracts lack. It is a bold, immediately attractive piece, and nothing more than that is needed to want it.
