Bare Essentials

Pacific Northwest Landscapes · vertical

A white-barked aspen trunk with dark knots runs up the center of the image. Bare brown and silvery branches tangle across it, and green evergreen foliage fills the background, with patches of pale sky at the top left. The surfaces look smooth and swirled, like a painting.

A luminous aspen trunk is wrapped in a looping web of branches against deep green forest, rendered with a swirling, painterly finish that makes the tangle feel alive.
