Cobalt Summit, Posterized Snowy Mountain Peaks

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · horizontal

Snow-covered mountain peaks rise in the center under a bright blue sky made of curved horizontal bands. Blue ridges and shadowed valleys step down toward forested slopes and a pale tan hillside in the foreground. Heavy black outlines and flat color patches give the whole scene a graphic, illustrated look. A dark, stepped border in deep blues surrounds the picture like a frame.

A collector wants this piece because it turns a believable snow-capped mountain view into a bold, poster-like graphic. Thick wobbly black outlines, flat posterized color steps and a vivid cobalt-to-azure sky make it look nothing like a standard mountain photograph. The curved sky bands repeat in a stepped blue and black border, so the picture looks built, layered and slightly glowing. It suits someone who loves mountains but wants a cool, graphic, modern version of them. The visual punch is reason enough to want it.
