Cobalt Crown: Frilled Blue Abstract

Contemporary Abstract & Mixed Media · horizontal

A vivid abstract in electric cobalt blue, with a big rounded blue shape whose edges ripple into tiny frills and points. Inside it sits a paler, crumpled-looking center in light blues and white. Bands of cream, yellow and green curve along the right and bottom edges and add warmth against the blue. The whole surface has a fine textured, painterly grain and a sense of swirling, flowing movement.

A collector wants this piece for its intense, glowing cobalt blue and the unusual detail along the rim of the big blue form. The edge breaks into tiny frills and serrated points around a pale, crumpled-looking center. Most blue swirl abstracts are soft and smooth. This one is crisp and saturated, and a curved band of cream, yellow and olive green wraps around it and adds warmth. Wanting it for color and energy alone is reason enough.
