Glass and Lace - Stained Glass Butterfly

Butterflies, Birds & Wildlife · horizontal

A symmetrical butterfly with open wings sits in the center of a horizontal composition. Its body and wings are made of glossy, stained-glass-like sections in brick red, teal, cobalt blue and gold. Around and over it, a web of white angular lines fans out like cut paper or lace against a red background. A thin red-brown border frames the whole scene, and small blue dots mark the lower wings.

Someone wants this butterfly over the many pretty butterfly prints because it reads as glass and lace at once. Glossy, backlit-looking stained-glass cells in brick red, teal, gold and cobalt sit behind a bright white web of angular lines. The strict mirror symmetry, the tight red, white and blue palette and the busy line pattern around a clear central butterfly make it graphic, ornate and festive. Visual attraction alone is reason enough to want it.
