Light Through Molten Glass: One Flare in a Field of Spirals
Ember Current is a horizontal abstract in burnt orange and amber, where glossy ribbons and tiny spirals rush toward a cream flare near the upper right.

Choose your size, paper, canvas, metal or frame. Printed, shipped and guaranteed by Fine Art America.
Start with the color. Burnt orange and deep amber flow across the whole frame in glossy ribbons, with olive green and dark brown pooling in the shadows between them. It looks like light passing through molten glass, or oil swirled on water.
Then find the flare. Near the upper right, a pale burst of cream and yellow gives all that motion somewhere to land. I made this piece to be felt from across the room first, then explored up close.

What your eye finds when you step closer
I can't give you a backstory for this piece, and I won't invent one. What I can give you is what's actually in the image, so here is where I'd point you.
On the left, long glossy streaks sweep down and slightly to the right, dense and dark. Move toward the center and the curves begin to rush toward a bright spiral point near the top. On the right, the forms open into larger loops, and the whole picture gets lighter and airier.
Look closer still and the surface fills with small spirals, fine bright edges and tiny bubble-like circles layered over the broad color. Small flecks of red-orange, violet, magenta and electric blue flicker inside the warm palette like sparks. There is no horizon and no single subject, so your eye is free to wander.
What you'll see in Ember Current
- Molten-looking burnt orange and amber ribbons give the piece a rich, glowing warmth that reads from across the room.
- Cream and pale yellow highlights set against deep brown and olive shadows look like light passing through glass or liquid, which gives the image depth.
- A repeating field of tiny spirals and bubble-like circles rewards a closer look, so the piece keeps its detail when you're standing near it.
- Vertical streaks on the left and curves rushing toward a bright spiral at the upper center create strong, flowing movement.
- Small flecks of violet, magenta and electric blue add sparks of contrast so the warm palette never goes flat.
- A dense left side opening to a lighter right gives the composition balance and a clear point of focus.
Where it belongs on your wall
Ember Current is a horizontal, color-dominant piece. It suits a wall where you want a warm, glowing focal point, such as above a sofa, a console, a bed or a dining table, or in an office.
The dark brown and olive keep the orange grounded, so it adds energy and glow without overwhelming a room. The dense left side balances the open, brighter right. Warm color and motion are reason enough to want it.
- This is for you if you want a warm abstract that glows like light through glass rather than a flat color field or soft gradient.
- This is for you if you love burnt orange, amber and olive with a few small sparks of violet and blue.
- This is for you if you want a piece that holds up both from across the room and close up.
- This is for you if you need a horizontal focal point for a living room, dining area, bedroom or office wall.
