A Butterfly Outline With a Fire Burning Inside Its Wings
Ember Wings is my digital butterfly silhouette, a dark maroon window filled with glowing, mirror-symmetrical swirls of orange and gold.
Choose your size, paper, canvas, metal or frame. Printed, shipped and guaranteed by Fine Art America.
Picture a large butterfly, wings fully spread, two long antennae reaching up, sitting dead center on a deep maroon-brown field. You can read the shape from across the room.
Then the wings pull you in. Ribbons of fiery orange and golden amber curl outward like flame or molten glass, and they seem lit from within.

What the eye finds, step by step
The first thing is the silhouette: slim body, outspread wings, a strict mirror-image balance. I treat the butterfly as a window. Its outline is the whole subject, and the pattern inside is the show.
Move closer and the lines start to travel. They ripple from the body out toward the wing edges, like flickering heat. Because the left and right sides mirror each other, all that motion stays balanced and calm.
Near the body the palette cools. Olive green and touches of violet sit at the center, giving the warm oranges, brick red and yellow-gold highlights somewhere to rest. Fine glowing threads run through it all, and the surface is smooth and polished, with no visible brush texture.
A thin, darker inner border echoes the maroon ground and frames the image like a mat.
What you'll see in Ember Wings
- A large, centered butterfly silhouette with long antennae. It reads instantly, even from a distance.
- Fiery orange and golden amber ribbons that look like flame or molten glass. They bring heat and drama to the wall.
- Olive green and violet near the body. This cool center keeps the warm colors from feeling flat.
- Wing lines that glow against deep maroon-brown. The strong contrast makes the piece feel lit from within.
- Strict bilateral symmetry with lines flowing outward from the body. It gives movement without restlessness.
- A thin darker inner border that frames the image like a mat, so it settles into a room.
Where it belongs
Ember Wings is a horizontal, centered design, so it works as the focal point of a wall. Think above a sofa, a bed or a console, or in a reading nook or den. The dark maroon surround and the warm glow inside it suit a space where you want a bold, high-contrast statement rather than something quiet.
Its colors pair naturally with deep wall colors, wood tones and warm lighting. Most butterfly art leans natural or pastel. This one is dark, glowing and dramatic.
- This is for you if you want a butterfly piece with real drama instead of soft pastels.
- This is for you if you love orange, gold and amber glowing against a dark maroon ground.
- This is for you if you like kaleidoscope symmetry and pattern that rewards a closer look.
- This is for you if you need a horizontal focal piece for a wall above furniture.
